This newly renovated property has only recently come on to the holiday let market. 50 Back Brae was originally a mason's workshop before it was extended and became shop premises for Tobermory Chocolate and then MusicScotland. The building has been converted into a high quality, spacious residence with brand new kitchen, bathroom and furnishings. The house is situated just behind the famous (and colourful) Mishnish buildings on Main Street, on the street leading to the upper part of Tobermory. Sleeping accommodation comprises one main double bedroom, with two double sofa beds and a single futon within the open-plan living area. This arrangement would be comfortable for one or two couples, but can be adaptable for a family or small group. Please enquire if you are unsure of sleeping capacity or arrangements. |
"We had a great time but then we are old Tobermory fans. Kids loved the flat, all the modern aspects...the island and town are the perfect holiday places, especially with kids - safe, laid back, great little shops, local seafood... older ones love the freedom to wander and explore by themselves, younger ones love the beach, park, Open Farm... Calgary has to be one of the top beaches in the world (though we did swim in the rain!)... very partial to a game of Scrabble in the Mishnish..." (AS, Scottish Borders) "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Back Brae Lodge. The apartment was very well equipped and its location was near perfect. Tobermory is a fantastic place, you can wander down Main Street browsing the shops, or chill out in one of the traditional bars with a locally produced whisky or ale. The food is superb too, from fish to burgers there was something for everyone..." (PW, Middlesbrough)

The entire upper floor of the house is an open plan L shape - shown are three views of the spacious room which combines the living area, dining area, kitchen and extra sleeping space. There is a sliding wooden door partition which can be pulled across to split the room if necessary - this is not a soundproof barrier but does provide some privacy. There are two double sofabeds on this floor and one single futon. The space can be blacked out with the curtains and Velux blinds. We provide a PC & monitor connected to broadband for your Internet needs, including wireless access for your laptop. Please note - there is currently no television in this property. However you can...

The lower floor of Back Brae Lodge is accessible through both the internal staircase and also a separate lower entrance from outdoors. It comprises a lobby/drying room, bathroom and double bedroom. There is hanging space here for clothes, and drying stands. |
The bathroom contains a shower bath, electric shower, dual flush toilet, sink and a lighted mirror. |
The double bedroom contains a kingsize bed, sink, open wardrobe and bedside tables. The property is heated by electric storage heaters, two of which which also include convectors. Hot water is supplied by a timed electric immersion tank. There are fire alarms and extinguishers throughout. Please note there is no electric dryer or freezer. The property is no smoking, however there is an outside porch area with a view! |
Please note that there is one short flight of steps up to the lower entrance, another flight to the upper entrance, and an internal staircase between the floors. We do welcome dogs but we would request that they are restricted from the bedroom, sofabeds and all other soft furnishings, as they may leave hairs which can cause allergy problems for other guests. Nearest car parking is on Main Street. |
